A Sea of Tiffins: The Crystal River Rally Report
We’ve pulled into Crystal River, Florida, for something the humans call a "Rally." Now, usually, when we travel, we see all kinds of "Dog Houses on Wheels." But here? It’s like looking in a mirror—everywhere I turn, I see the word Tiffin.
The "Same but Different" Mystery
I’ve been doing some serious reconnaissance from my windshield perch. Every single motorhome here has the same name, but none of them look the same! Some are giant, some are a bit smaller, and they come in every color of the rainbow. It’s like a giant puzzle where all the pieces almost match, but not quite. The humans seem very excited to walk around and point at everyone else's paint jobs.
Tactical Navigation: The Ditch Maneuver
The Florida sun has been showing off this week, which means the blacktop roads are basically lava. Since Patches and I value our paw pads, we’ve developed a new tactical walking route: The Ditch. While the humans want to walk on the nice, flat pavement, we’ve been sticking to the grassy ditches behind the motorhomes. It’s cooler, it smells more interesting, and it’s the perfect place to avoid the constant parade of golf carts and bicycles zooming by.
The Ant Parade & The Great Back-Scratch
Patches has developed a very strange new hobby. She spent most of the morning staring at the edge of our concrete pad, watching ants march by "one by one." I think she’s trying to count them for a security audit, but I’m not convinced they have the proper clearance to be here.
As for me? I found the ultimate prize: The Grass. After days of traveling, there is nothing quite like a thick patch of Florida turf to give yourself a world-class back scratch.
Social Hour
I’ve met a lot of new two-legged friends this week, and quite a few four-legged ones, too. Everyone is very friendly, though I suspect they’re all just hoping I’ll share my treats. (I won't. Logistics are tight.)
🐾 Shadow’s Rally Rating: 4/5 Paws
Great for socializing, excellent grass for scratching, but subtract one point for the "Lava Roads."
